I'm Proud of You
Empty seat, all I see every meet is one empty seat.
You'll be a great baseball player just like your father, but I want to swim.
Cleats or flippers, gloves or paddles, hat or a swim cap.
I want to make him proud but I want to be happy too.
One empty seat in the whole crowd saved for him.
I'm sorry dad, keeps paying in my head.
Will you still be there?
We'll see son, I'll try but I don't know.
One empty space is all I see in an ocean of people.
Behind the block when others are stretching and getting ready I just stand there.
Looking around hoping he's there, I can't look again without tearing up.
They call us up.
I need one more look just to check.
One empty seat in my whole world saved for my dad, is no longer empty.
He gives me a thumbs up and I know he's there for me and I have his support.
He mouths I'm Proud of You Son.
