But I'm Really Very Bad at Poetry

An honor student

With a reputable to uphold

My mom says I have a heart of gold

My dad says why bother going to school

All because I'm really very bad at poetry.

I'll apply to medical school

As if it's done of my own accord

To get an education that I really can't afford

To live a life that is just not mine

All because I'm really very bad at poetry.

Art school is an impossible dream

For someone with a perfect SAT

For a science-minded girl like me

The artist inside me they just might see

If only I was good at poetry.
