I'm so needy for you

You are my fix, my remedy

Your scent fills my lungs and makes my heart beat faster with excitement

The thrill of feeling your texture between my fingertips, sometimes rough,

sometimes smooth

Oh your pages filled with vocabulary that stimulates my mind

Books! I need books! I need them so much because they take me away from the pain

The yelling, the screaming, the constant degredation of my being

Over and over again, you are my escape, my refuge

I refuse to let go of you because you make me happy

Sometimes you make me sad but not every story can have a happy ending

I need your binding, your dog-eared pages, your worn cover

to conceal me from the hell I'm supposed to call home

Give me the strength to be who I want to be.

Draper, Olson, Patterson, Poe, Shelley

Science fiction, fantasy, drama, action

Gothic, modern, urban, dystopian

No matter what your pages contain, just take me away,

make me yours

I need you more than I need this air to breathe because you are all I want to breathe in

You've been by my side through thick and thin, a companion more loyal than a pet

Your physical body may fall apart but your words will always be on my heart

Call me a bookworm, a fanatic

But I know that to the ends of the earth, the words will carry on

like a stairway to heaven...or hell, whichever you prefer

These words will carry on like a stairway through the galaxy

Infinite

I need you. I need books in my life more than anything.
