I'm Sorry

The phone rings and I  ignore it

this goes on for 2 years straight

My mother tells me to say “hi”

that what i do isn’t okay

i keep ignoring her

not wanting to communicate

with her or anybody else

then you call and ask for me

and my mother makes me speak

i force the conversation

mouthing a “please let me leave”

after a while you stopped trying

and i realize what i’ve done

i tried to fix my mistake

but then you were gone’

The day that you died

i felt a breeze past me

and i’m not a believer

but that day changed my beliefs.

I wish i could go back in time

just to at least pick up one of those calls

and tell you

granny i love you

and i’m sorry for all that.
