I'm Sorry
First day of school
You were there
Friendly enough
But everyone stopped to stare
I tried and tried
One day I fell
The next I'd rise above
Always crying "Just don't tell"
Then at last
I let them win
Cruel words, harsh actions
After all I just gave in.
He broke my heart
Time and again
Through it all
You were my friend
I tried so hard
To make it work
Really, though
I was a jerk
I let you go
Let you walk home
The turbulence of a broken heart
That's where I left you alone.
We were perfect
In every possible way
Fairy tale stories
Strewn on every page
Then reality struck
Tore at my heart
One thing lead to another
Finally we fell apart
I can't fix this
What's done is done
Maybe I stopped fighting
Maybe you'll never run.
