I'm Sorry

I’m sorry for being different,

for having different likes and dislikes.

I’m sorry for not being how you want me to be,

for offending you in my ways of being.

I’m sorry for finding my own ways of being happy,

for making you frown when you see me smile.

I’m sorry for seeing things from another perspective,

for making you angry with my point of views.

But I never knew that I was living for you,

to not make mistakes you wouldn’t do.

I never really knew I was to act like you,

to not make you look like a fool.

I never knew I had to be upset in my life,

to keep you smiling and full of joy.

I just never knew how bad it would really be,

to be accepted for who instead of what I am.

I'm sorry that some laws had to be changed,

for my benefits that you hate so much.

I'm sorry that my way of loving is not okay,

for it offends your precious religion.

I’m sorry that I’m making the world uncomfortable,

for you having to put up with my kind.

I’m sorry that I love those who are my sex,

for standing up and say what I believe in.

But I didn’t think all of it through,

to keep it almost fair with everybody.

I didn’t think it would cause such a disaster,

to get a happy ending for the rest of my kind.

I didn’t think it could tear me up like this,

to the point where I cry myself to sleep.

I didn’t think it was a real problem,

to love like this doesn’t really hurt.

I’m sorry that I keep saying sorry,

for I don’t know what else to do.

I’m sorry that I can’t change my being,

for not letting you control me.

I’m sorry that I won’t back down,

for fighting back to get some right.

I’m sorry that I will not take a NO,

for saying what I want loud and clear.
