I'm Sorry

1 cross

3 nails

4given

Christ is the one thing I cannot live without

He’s the air I breathe

The moon to my sun

My everything, my all, I stand in awe

He paid the ultimate sacrifice

So I may make it to paradise

Too often this is forgotten

So I’m sorry

I’m sorry that it took me so long to realize the magnitude of your sacrifice

I’m sorry that it was so hard for me to see the world through your eyes

I’m sorry I hid behind enemy lines

Wearing church as a disguise

I’m sorry I blamed you for every wrong in my life

Or for every beauty mark that was written with a knife

When in reality you were the only thing keeping me alive

I’m sorry that I placed he, she, her, him, it above your name

When you alone should have been seated on that throne

I’m sorry for seeking security from something so small

Throwing you to the side for an illusion of my religion

As if Benjamin Franklin would be the one to save us all

I’m sorry that the only time that I had the guts to mention your name

Was when I was guaranteed fame

I’m sorry Sunday became sinday and every other day that ended with a “Y” became the same

I’m sorry that the people sent to guide me, didn’t deny me, yet I denied them and turned my attention to other men

I’m sorry that my silence was deadlier than any weapon forged by man

Sending your children to a death so cruel even the devil wept

I’m sorry that my eyes were not closed to him alone, I just wanted to see her with no clothes

I’m sorry for stealing your glory by silencing the testimonies of your witnesses

I’m sorry that my tongue became like a slithering snake

Poisoning the truth, shattering their lives like an earthquake

I’m sorry that I spat upon your creation, seeing it as an abomination

I’m sorry that I lost my content to the extent that I would rather be anyone other than what Jesus meant

I’m sorry that instead of overcoming sin, I succumbed to it

Who am I

I am you

You are me

We

I, you, me, we

His death was the entrance to life

Greater than any man’s sacrifice

When he died, I died to self

And I was reborn as a new creation

Christ is the one thing I cannot live without

He paid the ultimate price

So I may make it to paradise
