I'm Tired

Today I don’t wanna talk cards and candy;

I wanna talk about the ability to let someone go.

You watch them take in their last breath,

every memory is crowding your membrane,

and it’s insane cause you’re looking for someone to blame,

but this is no one’s fault.

If anything a lesson to be learned

to not keep bridges burned and to never take anyone for granted.

She says I’m tired;

She’s calling for another home in an ozone that’s unknown,

But what’s known is the love she had for her son.

and how he was her best friend, is her best friend.

I don’t wanna talk about roses and dinner reservations,

I wanna talk about the hesitation,

to let someone close their eyes.

To realize it’s the final time,

and the hesitation to understand that this is now in God’s hands.

She says I’m tired/ that thing taking over her.

She says I’m tired/ that monster, that best.

She says I’m tired/ that cancer.

She says I’m tired/ that hatred.

She says I’m tired/but your love is sacred

And it has kept her around for this long,

so stay strong

I know those words don’t mean anything to you

 now but I mean them.

Today I don’t wanna talk about shallow love;

I wanna talk about true love,

and how it has no distance.

I wanna talk about holding your parent’s hand,

and knowing that they care for you like no one else will,

and their good will is why you’re willing to live life whole heartedly.

Embrace them.

Love your parents when they’re tired.

Love them to let them sleep.

Love them so profoundly, that they will still be in your dreams.
