I'm twenty
Mom
Do you ever think of me?
I'm twenty
You left when I was six.
For the longest time I was so insecure, why doesn't my mother love me?
Why.. why.. why..
I started not to love myself
I began to cry, tears rolling down my face when you didn't bother to call on my
eigth birthday
I waited by the phone, hoping that the fears of abandonment would go away
Years and years go by
One year after another
On year eleven, I learned to let you go too
I never needed you
I needed love- for me
I need strength to survive
To know I was worthy
To know I was a strong tree
Growing into a beautiful willow
Some days are harder than others
But Mom
Because of you I'm stronger
Because of you I'm a fighter
Because of you I will never stop trying to become a better person
I will thrive
I will survive
Because of you I'm scared
I'm completely unaware
Of love
I run
I hide
I don't stay too long
I'm trying mom, I'm trying
It's something I need to overcome
This is what you've done
I'm fixing your mess in my mind
That way I don't run and hide
Because of you I'm independent
Because of you I can take on the world alone
Mom
I'm twenty
Do you remeber anything about me?
