I'm Waiting

I never forgot the day

You said you loved me

Said you'd keep me

Hide me from the evils of the world

Show me that I'm beautiful

I never forgot the day

Where my last sight of you

You were walking out the door

Every little fragment of our time together

In the box in your arms

I'm still waiting

To be shown that I'm beautiful

For the evil to go away

For the light to come out to play

For an innocence long gone

The same innocence you swore to protect

I'm still waiting for the heart you promised

Would never break to come together again.

I'm just a high school student, looking for a place to write poetry. I often post things I used as assignments on here, but there's some things I write just for this place, as well. I'm hoping to better my skills with writing, even though I'm planning to go into nursing.
