Imagination

My closest companion is the brain in my head

Listening to every word that I have said

Helping to escape this wretched reality

With a brand new perspective on mentality

Imagination gives me a chance to escape

In a race car, love poem, or a hero’s cape

I can create a new world or join a previous

Be a proud king or a thief that’s mischievous

The best part is that the possibilities won’t end

When imagination allows me to transcend

I can even help others with words I write

Another person’s smile is the greatest sight

A little cliché, but forever enduring

Someone else’s happiness is quite assuring

It feels like I have finally found my purpose

Organized my paradoxical brain’s circus

I'm a High school senior that loves poetry and the way poetry can alter perspectives. I write more than just poetry and the poems posted by me on this forum differ based on the emotion being expressed while writing the piece.
