Immigrant
The world describes me as an immigrant,
but I am a girl, mother, daughter, women and sister
Immigrant to those that don't understand that were are all immigrants
Immigrant because I was not born in this country but in mine.
Immigrant because you need to give me a label to make me feel less
Immigrant because you don't understand what is to be an immigrant.
I am an immigrant
Immigrant is having power, knowledge and light.
Power of being bi-lingual because I am an immigrant
but I only speak two languages when you speak one
Immigrant because I understand that I can't speak Spanish
when you are around
So you can't participate in our conversation
I understand,
but you didn't understand that when I didn't know English
I didn't need you to speak louder but slower.
You didn't understand,
that I needed time to adjust not a hearing aid.
I am an immigrant because
knowledge in two culture.
If I was born in your country
you would think it was
amazing for me to have this knowledge,
but since I was brought here you think is a disadvantage.
I am the light that can show you
what an immigrant looks like
I am the light that can show you the passage to change.
I am light that can show and do greatness,
but you have decided that I am darkness
because I am just an immigrant.
