Immobility on the Mortal Road

Here is where I stand.

There are two paths before me.

I know what I demand.

I don’t know which road is for me.

The one I’ve been on is long and worn.

It pains my feet to tread here.

The one to my side is dark and lorn.

The pain of that road is my fear.

I fear I may never take the step,

and this road will scar my feet.

But if I stumble on forever,

when will the two roads meet?

Should I linger and endure this soil?

If I leave then will I wake?

Here is where I stand, unmoving,

until a choice I make.
