Imperfect is Beautiful

Another flawless model on the cover of a magazine
Let's face it, we can't all look like pageant queens.
Why does society define our beauty?
And why is beauty mostly nudity?
Wearing lots of makeup and having your hair done,
isn't going to matter in the long run.
Why can't beauty be imperfections,
And when can flaws also win affection?
Beauty is more than outer appearance.
And who's to say we can't set our own limits?
Beauty starts at the heart,
God's purest, simplest form of art.
Being smart and being kind
those are attributes I want as mine.
Outer appearances can be deceiving,
though our hearts can not be misleading.
Pretty face with lying eyes
or "ugly" face but very wise?
Society should not be allowed to define
the standards by which we live our lives.
Each and every one is their own
so let us not complain and groan.
When we are not "up to par"
Who is? God and He's the best by far.
So the next time you look in the mirror and say,
"Pimple, scar or freckle, go away!"
Remember that you are perfectly made
by the One who always runs to your aid.
Scars, bruises, pimples and all
God loves everyone whether short or tall.
Society does not have to define
the beauty that is yours and mine.
