imperfect cinderella

what you maybe don't know

about the bambino with blue eyes

is that she broke her shoe

and broke the skin that cradeled her delicate foot

and no prince was there

when

one solitary tear

skidded down her cheek

and the only one who appeared

by her side

was a young girl

with midnight hair

who lent her own modest shoe

to the girl from a broken home

and who took a bit of the girl's love in return
