The Imperfect Love

Imperfect

Love is imperfect

but love is strong.

Love is supposed to feel kind

like a hug

like your favorite song.

Love should never feel painful

untrue.

Love is supposed to comfort you.

Love is meant to help.

Love is imperfect.

Love is not a fist

that punches

and leaves marks.

Love is laughter and kisses

that leave warmness in your heart.

Love is not words

that tear you down

and hurt who you are.

Love is words of encouragement

that build you up

and leave you feeling

as though

you are enough.

Yes,

love is imperfect.

You will have fights,

though they should never

be of the physical type.

There will be days

where you can't handle

who you love.

But you will continue on

if it is meant to be

because love is imperfect.

As everyone should be.
