Imperfect Perfection
What is perfection?
It's impossible to find
Nowhere to be seen
Undefinable
It's what everybody wants
What everyone worries about grasping
But no one can truly achieve perfection
Not even the greats of our world
It's an impossiblity
An unattainable goal
As much as one could wish for perfection
It can not be accomplished
We work towards it
Not taking no for an answer
Working and working
Frustrated with each imperfection
Hating each little flaw
Going back and rewriting
Erasing and redrawing
Until we feel like a failure
But if we would just stop
Take a minute and breathe
Maybe we would see
That our imperfections, really aren't imperfect
We must accept faults and flaws
And just accept
That imperfection is inevitable
That imperfection is perfection

Moves from frustration and despair toward hopeful acceptance and self-compassion.
Escalating frustration and effort, then tempered by meditative acceptance in closing.
Approximately 24 lines; falls within 16-30 line range.
Minimal figurative language; mostly declarative statements with one paradox at end.
Pure lyric internal voice; speaker's personal meditation on perfection and self.
