(In)adequacies
See that girl with the award?
She's much more intelligent than i.
See that guy with great connections?
He's got more money than me.
And that girl with the giant smile?
She's nicer than i could ever be.
This life is a series of comparisons, as expansive as space itself.
And if my mind is occupied with inadequacies,
How can i ever measure up?
Can i escape from myself?
i must reconstruct my thinking.
This doesn't revolve around me.
See that girl with the award?
She's intelligent, and I'm going to work as diligently as her.
See that guy with great connections?
He's doing well, and I'll ask him for job advice.
And that girl with the giant smile?
She's so nice, I'm going to try to spread her joy.
I do not compare.
I learn.
