Inbirdation

I sit outside

On the cold grass

with my eyes in the trees

and excitement in my heart

A slight movement

draws my attention

and I lift my binoculars

to see the creature

A little ball

of feathers and wisdom

bounces and flies

in my backyard forest

I write down his name

"Chickadee"

and go inside

to paint him.
