Increase my love, increase it

Increase my love… increase it Oh most beautiful waves of my madness Oh journey of a dagger through my veins Oh whisper of a blade within me… Increase my drowning, my lady For the sea is calling me Increase my death… For even death, if it kills me, gives me life Your body is my map No longer does the world’s map concern me I am the oldest capital of love And my wound is a Pharaonic engraving My pain stretches like an oil stain From Beirut to China My pain is a caravan Sent by the caliphs of Damascus to China In the seventh century of time And it was lost in the mouth of a dragon O sparrow of my heart, my April O sand of the sea, O olive forests O taste of snow, and taste of fire And the flavor of my doubt and certainty I feel fear of the unknown… so shelter me I feel fear of darkness… so embrace me I feel cold… so cover me Tell me stories for children And stay close to me Sing to me… For I, since the beginning of creation Have been searching for a homeland for my forehead For the love of a woman Who writes me on walls… then erases me For the love of a woman who carries me To the borders of the sun O light of my life, my fan of breeze My lamp, the whisper of my gardens Extend to me a bridge of lemon fragrance And place me as an ivory comb In the darkness of your hair… and forget me I am a confused drop of water Left in the notebook of October Increase my love… increase it Oh most beautiful waves of my madness For your sake I have freed my women Left history behind me Erased my birth certificate And cut all my arteries
