Independence

Relationships are a lot of work.

Here's the thing: they shouldn't hurt.

There should be no screaming or yelling, lying or cheating.

You shouldn't be glaring at your partner while secretly seething.

Hands balled into fists at the the thought of them.

You hate her, or you hate him.

All signs of a relationship gone sour.

The kind that drains you of your power.

You'll know it's right when there's love, nothing else.

You care about them so much you'll forget yourself.

Buy them flowers without occasion.

Help them with a math equation!

Share the details of your day.

I love hearing about it, you say.

Have a bond full of honesty and trust.

Be confident they don't stare at someone with lust.

Let them do their own thing.

Let yourself do your own thing.

No need to be attached at the hip.

Knowing the love won't slip.

Two separate people together.

Forever.
