Indiana or Before the Next Rainbow Fades
I saw him staring out the window
In the cafe
On my street
His hair red
His eyes green
Pupils surrounded by emeralds,
and filled with wonders he's never seen
How I wish to be filled with courage,
and ask on a date
But ney, another man approaches,
and frightens me away.
They both appear so casual,
And exchange a friendly hug
Until their embrace turns into a gentle kiss
A sign of true love
The manager starts to shout
And tries to shoo the men away
Pointing to the sign:
" I can refuse service to anyone who's gay"
The couple tries to leave,
but are pelted with glass cups
Yet no one notices the straight couple
Mating in the corner with no sign of letting up
True love is exiled
Lust is welcomed in
All because love between two genders is seen as a sin
Change needs to happen before the next rainbow fades into the grey skies of social conformity.
