Indignation

Freshman year, English class just did a unit on poetry

Each of us wrote a poem about injustice

Why does it exist?

Why does it hurt?

Who does it impact?

I wrote about racism,

Why should anyone be discriminated against because of the color of their skin?

What happened to valuing the 'content of their character'?

I wrote because I felt compelled to express my indignation

The Constitution states that "all men are created equal"

If that is the case, why does discrimination exist within the black or colored community?
Who gave white men the authority to rule?

I am livid

All men, and women for that matter, are equal,

But people left and right turn a blind eye to the truth, the natural law

Insults, condescending remarks plague the world we live in

Writing allows me to express,

To reveal a part of me that does not exist ourside of my journal

I am a writer

I am a poet
