Individuality

I wasn't taught to be different

Being different would be wrong

We must remain the same They told me

Always listen and never speak

It's no good being different

You must conform and just accept

I was taught to wear what others wanted me to wear

I was taught to do what others did

And I was taught to never lie

But how can one not lie, when they're taught to act like someone else?

Crushing our individuality; Silencing our hopes and dreams

Demanding we remain obedient as they remove our curiosity

Conform to society there's no need for originality

Remember that you're just another pretty face

But What I learned is that conformity is a lie

I learned that it's okay to be different

That it's okay to speak and not always listen

As you reject what others say

Wear what you want and Do as you please

I learned that it's best to appreciate your individuality

I am who I am

And always love yourself first

So embrace your beauty

 There's no need for conformity
