Inevitability

As I slumber here alone

I get the feeling of deep sorrow

Inside me is a soundless storm, a storm that never ceases

It rages and rips me in two

Merciless winds hail me from within

I feel so hopeless when I am alone

Never escaping the storm within

Never escaping the inevitable doom

The doom that hovers just above the horizon

I can see it now

Mocking me with its silent words

Never taking a form, it is just wisps like hair

Dark as night the wisps circle around me

The gloomy, malicious energy enveloping me

Fear courses through my body

Hatred courses through my body

Sorrow courses through my body

The endless pain, the emotion I have come to know so well

The wisps take a form, the form of a being not known to man

Tall, lankly, without a face or a voice, just two strips for a mouth

The entity opens its mouth to form words, but no sound escapes its parted lips

The being is nearing me, closing the space

I look into the black sockets where its eyes should be, but find blackness instead

For some unknown reason, I cannot pull my eyes away

It has rendered me motionless like a spider renders her prey immobile

It touches my face, caressing my face

I want to pull away, but it seems impossible

The inevitability of my fate has caught up to me at last

I look into the doom that is myself and I awake

I awake standing on something cold

The unfamiliar wind blowing through my hair

The darkness enveloping me, taunting me to take the final leap

Arms out wide, like a bird ready to take flight

I jump...

I fall, endlessly into a pit of nothingness

I see nothing, I hear nothing, I am nothing

My doom has caught up to me

My inevitable fate is here

My eyes open wide and the blackness envelops me for eternity
