the inevitable poet

but do you know

what its like

to live

         to do

what you have written

in broken

lines and

neglected grammar

if you knew

you would not wonder

"If you can't explain it simply, you do not understand it well enough"

yet there is nothing simple about the description of life

a poet

describes

stop being a poet

live it

  know it

    describe it

and the words will be of truth

become a poet

do you know what its like to die

therefore

death cannot be described

cannot be penned in this world

     sacrifice is poetry

the poet who has lived and descibed

will, inevitably

              look elsewhere

do you know what its like

but the poet will, inevitably, find

"and what

can rival the splendor of life"

a poet will, inevitably,

and do you know?
