INFECTIONS OF DECEPTION

Look into the faces of the sea- Lust, selfishness, and greed. What purpose is left in all of these? Backstabbers, manipulators, and liars- Are these all we’ll turn out to be? We say we’re set apart, Set apart from the diseased. But look inside ourselves. Our own infection grows. Our lungs no longer breathe; Our heart no longer bleeds. How can we live As we once used to be When we’ve been given Such a precious gift as He? This makes me sick- This infection of deception. We no longer know Who we’ve been called to be. But do we care? Do you even care In this sick and twisted life Of so-called harmony? We say we feed the hungry, We say we dress the needy, We say our lives are perfect, But who are we even kidding? We say we welcome all, Yet we’re just as the Pharisees. Those who aren’t as us Just get left behind the scenes. For those who say this is okay, Continue playing your games, Continue singing your songs, But know this, soon justice will call.
