Infested

An infestation in your home can be identified by the

signs and stains

left in the home appliances.

An infestation in your heart is much the same.

It can be seen in the little glances you steal

when you think she isn’t looking.

It can be found in the notes and drawings you redo

over

and over

and over

until they’re perfect.

It leaves traces on your lips in the form a sheepish smile.

It shows the wear on your heart

where space starts to appear.

Its effects can be seen

when your smile turns bittersweet,

and the notes become empty and repetitive...

When left unchecked,

an infestation grows

and grows

and grows…

It will eat away at what you’ve built,

and when you do figure out how to get rid of it,

everything is weaker than before.

That’s the thing about an infestation:

You’ve got to catch it early,

because an infestation in your heart is quite simple to identify,

but stopping it from spreading is much more difficult.

All the sentences you may find have deep, dark secrets of my mind. If ye seek, then ye shall find; They might be bleak, they're unrefined. When you see them, please, don't sneer; I only wish for you to hear.
