The Infinite Self

Sun, 01/26/2014 - 17:19 -- AlisonM

Are we runaways or bandits
Are we the planes or the crashes
Are we traffic jams and city lights
Or piercing sirens in the dead of night
When gunshots are all the heroes can hear
And every animal comes that can smell your fear

Are we the monsters underneath the bed
Or the knights that come and chase the dread
With swords and steeds and lives like dreams
From lands of magic or lands of thieves
Are we the monster or the little girl
The villain or the savior of the world

It's hard to tell in times like these
So sail away on the crowded seas
Pursue your battles, win every fight
Start fires just so you can put out their light
Find the darkest caves that make you love the sun
We're all still figuring it out, and we've only just begun.
