Infinite: Time
Infinite: time.
The laughing seconds of the happy minutes
Making up my never-ending days with you.
The infinite expanse of little things:
Of your eyes, of the world, of us.
You, so much greater than parts can say.
Three: three minutes later I heard.
Three letters licked shut beside you.
Your folders on the desk,
Your pen uncapped.
The times you told me that we were infinite.
The times I believed you.
Two: your closed eyes,
Shut on our boundless dreams
And vaulting hopes.
Denying me, defying me to follow.
Two dark figures, looking down
And not seeing anything at all.
One: a single wish
For one last moment to see you
And to know you.
One last chance to look at you
And see myself
Better than I could ever be.
None. No time left
To laugh and love and cherish and live.
Never again will my days burst
With sparks of joy poking out at the seams.
No more lazy smiles
To fill the lazy days of forever and always.
Infinite: life.
The days stretch out before me,
A bleak expanse of nothings and nevers.
The number of times I will think of you;
The times you won’t think of me.
You were my infinity.
