Inhale--Pushing at the corners of

Inhale--

Pushing at the corners of your mouth,

A smile.

Haven't felt that way in awhile.

Walls and defenses are so impractical

When that voice washes over you--

Warm and soft--

Like being a child,

Like being held.

Days slip like sunlight between our fingers,

Casting shadows on walls and mirrors.

Bickering, laughing, smiling, sobbing--

My heart swells with the ordinariness of myself and of you.

We are simply burning away our time,

In the average and unspectacular lives we keep.

And yet, the fact that I can't help but smile,

And run to meet you,

And reach for you,

Is

Remarkable.
