Injustice
If our nation is so great
Why do we protect prejudice and hate,
If our nation is so free
Why do we shun the right to knee,
Why do we let the furious voices be heard,
The voices of hate and fascism
Yet not the voices of love and free will.
We silence the voices of those who stand up, those delicate souls who took a stance.
However, you stand bystander to the voices of those who put down,
Those miserable souls which rose up from hell to hurt our free will
Whether you be left leaning or right
Can you not see the injustices flaming our country?
What justifies the shooting of an innocent black man?
Innocent till proven guilty up to the courts to decide
So why should a cop be the judge over a man’s life?
A black man is shot, a white man tased
The brutality seeping into this country’s blood, poisoning its soul
For can you not see the beautiful woman who died,
Her death by a speeding car, all because she stood for the rights of her fellow brethren.
For can you not see the countless people who live in fear of death by a pistol shot.
People judged by their skin and not their character.
This is not the world He dreamed about,
This is the world He would’ve shunned
I may stand for the potential this country holds but I kneel for the rights of my brethren.
