Ink, Not Quite What You Think

Ink

A wonderful liquid, I believe

It comes in a rainbow of colors

Purple, red, blue, and pink

But it’s not just ink…

It helps me to think.

Whether I’m lost in a sea of thoughts

Or stranded on an island of isolation…

It’s not quite what you’d think

I watch the pen glide down my arm

And that ink

Spreads across my skin

In a symphony of colors

Giving me my sanity

It’s no sin

Stranded on this island

A new design every day

It’ll keep me going

And prevent me from wasting away…

I’d love to bring a memory,

Something to stay sane

But really, that wishing

Of what is no longer possible

Will hurt me all the same

So, instead, I say

Ink is my choice today

Sanity in a bottle,

It’ll keep the voices away
