Inner Demons

The vile ghosts of my past,

Forever present, always haunting,

An eternal torturer of my soul.

I conquer you all, over and over,

Always rebuilding stronger and better,

Yet inevitably you come back and destroy me again.

How you’re able to influence everything,

My past, present, future, my very being,

It must be because of my weakness.

Others, they call it strength and resilience:

Only because they don’t see behind the doors,

The overwhelming urge to finally end it all.
