Inner Revelation

Within human introspection comes a price,

A revelation to the darkness of the mind.

Venturing inside requires the roll of the dice,

Are you ready for something not so kind?

A revelation to the darkness of the mind,

A discovery I was too young to know.

Are you ready for something not so kind?

Allow for me tell a tale from long ago.

A discovery I was too young to know,

Isolation's desolate grip chained me.

Allow for me to tell a tale from long ago.

Maybe my truth will set you free.

Isolation's desolate grip chained me.

Intelligence was my only way to make a friend

Maybe my truth will set you free.

However, this is the beginning of a dead end.

Intelligence was my only way to make a friend,

So poetry filled the void and gave me new power.

However, this is the beginning of a dead end:

Not having an ear to hear makes one go sour.

So poetry filled the void and gave me new power.

My new power became my friend, but it wasn't enough;

Not having an ear to hear makes one go sour,

And it seemed like breaking those shackles would be tough.

My new power became my friend, but it wasn't enough.

Eventually, I found that ear to hear.

And it seemed like breaking those shackles would be tough,

But poetry made freedom seem possible and near.

Eventually, I found that ear to hear.

Venturing inside requires the roll of the dice,

But poetry made freedom seem possible and near.

Within human introspection comes a price.
