Innerworkings of the Introvert

Dear everyone

who has ever talked to me,

When I am with one

I burgeon

bounce off the walls

glow through the night

When I am with two

I dimmer

melt away

abate into dismal darkness

When I am with three four five

I shut down

close my curtains

hollow my insides

When I am with six seven eight

I vanish

no longer a shell

just nothing

When I am with nine ten plus

I die inside

run back to my cave

and curl up to the point

When I am with zero but

When I am with you

I feel alone

I look alone

but you come and let me shine

so thank you for getting to know me

hearing me speak

letting me listen to someone else

other than me because

When I am me

I don't know who I am

who I should be

who I will be

so help me, know me, remember me

even when I want to be with zero
