Some people may argue that a certain age marks the end of a person’s childhood.

Though that is a reasonable argument, I believe otherwise. 

I feel as though the end of an individual’s childhood should be marked by the loss of their innocence and the gain of their maturity, rather than their age. 

People grow and mature out of their childish ways at a variety of paces. 

So, using an age limit to define whether or not a person is still a child does not seem very valid.  

Physically, someone may be too old to be considered a child but could very much so still carry the innocent mentality and maturity level of one.

Therefore, I personally choose to define the end of my childhood as the moments where I lost most of my innocence and gained some maturity. 

I cannot pinpoint an exact moment where I feel like most of my innocence was replaced by maturity though. 

Several life experiences have enlightened me with knowledge that has pushed me further and further away from the oblivious and innocent child i once was, also maturing me in some ways. 

Innocence is something you cannot get back once it’s lost and that is something i have learned to accept and live with. 

Although I do sometimes miss being a pure and clueless child, I really enjoy growing and maturing through life experiences and attempting to see what type of person I’m going to become. 

As I am maturing, I am learning that life is not all rainbows and sunshine like my young self once thought it was. But I have also learned that life isn’t all horrible either and has some extremely beautiful moments that i will cherish and remember forever.
