Innocent Expression

Writing began as busy work for school but it gave me a sense of maturity

Maturity is a word that has always made me feel empowered

Empowered to be beyond my years and it justifies my old soul

My old soul is expressed through the music I listen to and the words I write

I write to get a sense of reality and a sense of surrealism

Surrealism caves in on me as my life on paper enriches itself in details

Details make me feel as if I am looking down upon myself from an aerial perspective

Perspective is what confuses me when I think of reality

Reality for one may seem completely unrealistic for another

Another reason for writing is that it gives me an escape

An escape from responsibilities, stereotypes, and the outside world

The outside world is sometimes frightening so writing is a blanket

A blanket that is like a shield much like a pen is to a sword

A sword will not win me battles in this large world that makes me feel so small

Small interpreted as a feeling makes one feel alone but a pen brings us together

Together we can express our thoughts and the pen makes us feel big

Big interpreted as a feeling makes one feel important

Important, free, empowered, and mature are the feelings I get when writing

Writing is the most innocent form of expression, that is why I write
