Insanity

you say you wish you could be happier

but do you really try

or do you ponder on the past

refusing to break the chain that wrapped around your ankle

as you "tried" to reach the other side of that door to what you truly wanted in life

do you sit there and grasp onto the thing that once gave you comfort continuously ignoring the painful "memories" that came with it

do you look back at the photos of better times

endlessly trying to convince yourself

that although they hurt you so bad

it's okay to hold onto a collage of facades to make yourself feel better

do you even try to let go of all the pain and heartache that caused you so many restless sleepless nights

so you can learn to find happiness on your own

or do you let some hitch hiker feed off of your love and affection

for their own satisfaction

while you slowly slip away from the person you were always destined to be.
