Insanity is Expected, Not Accepted

we are all insane

it’s true

it’s clinical

from ages 13 to 19

our brains are incomplete

we are incapable

to fathom thoughts

into sound decisions

high schools are loony-bins

teachers are doctors

students are patients

learning is our treatment

and

knowledge is our drug

this is why we are taught how to think

how to think

how

not what

or so it seems to go

if you pay attention

you see

that every student has

a diagnosis

a hobby

a personality

a rebellion to fight

all of our lessons

present a new thought process

there’s always

an expression

an occasion

an equation

a persuasion

our educators

teach individuality to all the individuals

and then

they give them

the same test

with

one

right

answer

our teachers

show the color wheel

to all the artists

the sketchers

the sculptures

even the performers

and then

they have the gall to ask them all to paint the exact same picture

and reward the most

“accurate”

representation

and it’s degrading

we are stunted

when we should be growing

and twisting

and changing

and making mistakes

we

are

dismissed

we are clinically insane

it’s inevitable

our teachers

our doctors

read every book

learned every struggle

acquired patients

dozens, hundreds, thousands, millions of them

and were told

to give

each one

the same

damn

diagnosis

it’s a crime

it’s negligence

and it’s protected

by

law

we are all insane

it’s unavoidable

but it’s treatable

Most of us

just need

a different

treatment
