Insecurities

I wish that you could see yourself the way I do,

I spent my time and I worked hard creating you.

I made you up from the dirt creating your beauty,

Now go out and be confident pointing others to me.

Maybe you don’t look like the models on the magazine,

But I’m here to tell you, those girls aren’t really that lean.

They don’t really look like that sweetie,

They hide their flaws and create false beauty.

Your imperfections and flaws aren’t that at all,

Those are the things that make you unique so don’t let your head fall.

Maybe your hair isn’t straight or curly, it’s just kind of there,

But honey, about these things, I don’t really care.

I want to make sure you know that you are a star,

And I love you just the way you are.

So stop trying to be “hotter”,

You are perfect just the way you are, my precious daughter.

I breathed the breath of life into you,

Be a sunshine instead of being so blue.

Go and be the light that I created you to be,

And chin up sweetie, be confident in your beauty.
