The Inside

People don’t always see What is on the inside They don’t understand what it really means to be Everyone judges at first glance Never really giving a person a chance To be themselves Who they really are And when we judge we are often off by so far From the actual truth One would have to be a sleuth To understand that inside everybody There is a genuine being Longing to be heard and seen To have a chance to gleam They want to be known for who they are And what they believe Not what they wear Or how they act so cool Who really cares It shouldn’t matter how much you have But rather how much you give The world is full of take, take, take Never give What a huge mistake We need to stop trying to be who we are not And give ourselves a break There’s only so much one can fake So stop hiding behind that mask Though it is no easy task We must fight for who we want to be One who gives, one who shares We want the world to really care About who is there On the inside
