i remember when i used to wish i was ugly

so that people wouldn't hurt me

i remember when  i used to wish

i was cruel

so people would respect me

i remember when i used to wish

i was greedy

so i can prove to the thieves

i remember when i used to wish i was rich

so i can get away from the miserable

now that i am older

i have learned to be proud of my beauty

it is a gift and power as is imparted to myself  to share at my discretion

i have learned to be proud of having a heart

as it has earned me many priceless things including love

i have learned to be proud of being humble

as having just what i am is enough to go where im heading as theres more along the way

i have learned that money will not keep me from the miserable

that it is indeed inner joy that has protected me all along that lifts me to higher realms

now that i am older i am coming more into myself

i am becoming stronger

i am more proud of myself

i am more believing in myself to do more than i thought i could do

i am joyful knowing i can share myself and not be afraid anymore

that is because i am learning

to love myself
