Inside

The world is cloudy.

Its always raining.

There's Teardrops on my window.

The mirrored glass is cracked.

The reflection is broken.

Her memories, faded.

Her dreams, destroyed.

Her future, re-folded.

The warm embrace to never feel.

The loving words to never hear.

The similarities to never see.

The fragrance to never know.

Where's the cardinal?

They say it will come,

as long as I believe.

Waiting an eternity for the bird,

just to visit me.

I do believe.

Her memories, faded.

Her dreams, destroyed.

Her future, re-folded.

It’s about me actually, recently something happened that changed my life and when it first happened I wrote this. It’s how I felt. The cardinal represents a person who died, someone told me that when someone dies they’ll visit in the form of a cardinal. The poem is mostly about how I felt inside my mind; everything was cloudy, I cried a lot and a lot of things that I’d hoped to happen in the future wouldn’t. I felt it was time to share that with people and this is how I chose to do so.

This is about a girl you love or the girl is you? Whatever it is it is such a creative muse and I admire your word choice in this soulful poem. Kudos for this fine poem and best wishes,
