Inside Anxiety's Mind

“I promise I’ll never hurt you.

You mean the world to me.”

No, you don’t mean that.

You’re only telling me that

So I won’t leave you.

You’re only telling me that

So I’ll trust you.

So then you can shatter my heart into thousands of tiny pieces.

No, you’re going to fall

For someone prettier and kinder than me

You’re going to realize just how much trouble I am

No, you must be in love with someone else

Probably that girl you looked at for no more than a second

But it felt like eternity.

Or maybe it’s that girl you sit next to but never talk to.

But maybe you’re hiding that from me.

I know there’s something

That’s going to ruin this

There has to be.

There always is.

Or maybe-

Anxiety: a constant and unsubstantiated worry that causes significant distress and interferes with relationships and daily life.
