Inside the deep ocean
How far into the ocean before you drown, before you sink?
How deep before the sky disappears, and the point of return is gone?
They say, just keep swimming, but what if your arms are heavy, and the waves whisper, let go.
They say most of the ocean is unseen, so what does it matter if you find something miraculous
and never make it back to tell anyone at all?
The water will still shimmer in the sun, the fish will still swim, the waves will still roll on.
The world tells you: be a fish, explore, find what sets you apart.
But what if you are a coral reef, anchored to the ocean floor, glistening quietly in your own way, misunderstood, unmoving, with a purpose no one sees.
Your world revolves around one bright, beautiful fish; you admire it, but it never notices you.
The fish glide by, but your fish drifts away.
How does a coral reef ever get noticed?
