The Inside of Me

I am an iron pipe

That is cold and rigid.

But I am used for plumbing

To give them water to drink

As I slowly rust, from the inside.

I am a redwood tree

The tallest in the forest.

But the loggers haul me away

So that they can make toothpicks

The cheap ones, that break too easily.

I am a man

That appears strong.

But they know who I really am

Because they take advantage of me

To give themselves a little entertainment,

At my expense.
