The Inside of Me

the inside of my brain is

a library

old

dusty

dim

filled beyond reckoning with

books

papers

forgetten secrets

i wander through the dust motes

breathing in the secret parts of myself

i talk quietly about lands that

have never been and never

will be

i sing songs that elves and dwarves have

sung under the moon

this is who i am

a character who

managed to crawl out from between the

lines of ink and

musty paper that smells like

time and knowledge

out of curiousity and now i

can't find my way

back again

i dream and i sigh for legends long

forgotten and lost

for epics that no one

remembers

this is who i am

a lost character

looking for a story

an adventure

to

fit

into
