Inside the Mind of Hopelessness

A house of blank walls and boards

I'm stuck inside

no windows, no doors

Tears fall down onto the floor

pitch black ink

of pain, it pours

The things they whisper into my ear

I feel so worthless

I live off fear

I beg and plead for it all to stop

stop the emotions

the pain, the rot

I'm dying from the inside out

being eaten away

I scream, I shout

I slam my hands onto the walls

blank ink prints

that don't wear off

I stumble around these empty rooms

seeking something

hope, refuge

I'm lost inside the maze of my own mind

led astray

I eat off lies

I don't know who I really am

I'm lost, confused

no place to begin

people ask me if I'm ok

I shake my head

I walk away

I'm past the point of getting help

I'm old, I'm broken

a puppet on a shelf

I've been used up and overdone

I became addicted

I had my fun

I shattered my heart

my hopes, my dreams

I have nothing now

I'm shackled, not free

Hope has left me

I have no place to go

So within these blank walls....

of hopelessness......

I roam.
