Inside Out
I wish you could see how I feel inside
If I could I would show you
I'd slice myself down the side
It'd look like a slit in a dress that rides high
And folding my pink skin back on my thigh
I'd turn me inside out.
This way you can finally scout out
What words could never fully express
It's all this pain that just pressed
It was the pressure on my chest
Now you can see how it crushed my ribs
Flattening my heart like my breasts
I wish you could see how I feel inside
So I take your hand in mine and guide
I let you feel my guts that've dried
You hold them in your hand and now can tell
They're just hollow pieces painted pastel
To look like real organs but truth is I'm empty
I know you're staring at them
All my rotten parts
The ones that made me bitter and poisoned my smile
I'm rotting inside
You pull your hand back and it's black
As if you pulled it out of your truck
I'm a piece of work too, I know
But even you don't have the right pieces to fix this busted piece of junk cargo
You look so sad and that makes my stomach twist in knots
You'd have to be a boy scout to untie them
Now the bloody tears are spilling from my eyes
Because it hurts so much more than the clear which just minimize
The hurting and can you look on my with pity please?
And under his hot breath, "Now she's not so pretty.."
So I zip myself back up and
My body starts to shake like a quake
As I try to contain this new pain and the shame
I can try to remain tame but
The flitter flutter shudders
Turns into my still small frame
Convulsing and contorting as I'm slowly imploding
And while my hollow pieces rattle inside
I know I'm never to unzip this tight pink skin
Instead my outsides will remain out
And my insides in.
